Yep, no problem there - that's exactly what we call them. However am I right in thinking that Aussies wear their thongs on their feet :?: That might be adding to the confusion

Bio:
Sleek, dark, sinister-looking former boxer and Broadway dancer, best known for his portrayals of smooth, underworld characters, as in "Scarface" (1932) and "Each Dawn I Die" (1939). A big star at Paramount in the 1930s, Raft also played more conventional romantic leads in many films of the 1930s and 40s, and when his stardom finally waned in the mid-50s essayed occasional character roles thereafter. Ok Bettina, you've got me. What is a "Cockabondy"?

It sounds like it might be "the mythical glue bird of the outback" or something like that.

Google returns just one URL http://www.gtoal.com/wordgames/wordsquare/special.9.txt, which lists every obscure word under the sun, including this one. It's sandwiched between "Cocircular" and "Cockabully"

Please let us poor ignorant English know soon, before we go completely mad.
