Auto Express - March 1994

It rained so hard during our group test that our Dodge Viper shrunk. At least that's what you might think when you catch your first glimpse of Suzuki's shapely little Cappuccino. It's like a miniature version of Chrysler's macho sports car.

If it's dynamic styling doesn't blow your socks off, the experience of driving the Cappuccino certainly will.

Suzuki's lively little 657cc three cylinder, 12-valve engine thrives on revs. The Cappuccino is tremendous fun to drive quickly, with very entertaining handling. It grips like a leech in corners and in true rear wheel drive fashion the rear feels twitchy under power and if you life off the throttle in mid bend the tail can snap out of line.

For simple open top motoring the Cappuccino's hood design is one of the best in the business - easy to operate and incredibly versatile.

Auto Express Verdict (In the group test other cars included the BMW 325i Cabriolet, Caterham Seven, VW Golf Cabriolet, Rover Mini Cabrio and Westfield ZEi 220)

Suzuki's Cappuccino was the real show stealer, warming the heart of every cynic who got behind the wheel. The word fast may not really be in its vocabulary but its cheeky styling, superbly convenient roof and vivacious engine endeared it to all who drove it.
