Interesting.

I'd love to know where the £120,000,000 really went. ( Answers on a postcard )

I wonder why practically all people have lost all faith in the Police force?

On a road near to our home, there are 3 speed cameras in 300 mtrs (seriously). Well that's money well spent then

Do you live near a friend of the Chief Constable, who rides a horse?

Interesting read! I suppose lane swapping is less of a safety risk than stopping under the camera for a couple of minutes until the required time has elapsed!

Also I’ve never been able to suss out how a picture of a car is proof that the vehicle was exceeding the limit, how a mobile camera which works on trigonometry can be sufficiently accurate, how can one camera decide which vehicle is speeding on a three lane carriageway, why can a police car nab you for speeding when they’ve been following for a mile exceeding the limit themselves, why do they put speeding camera signs where there are no speeding cameras, why do people drive at 40 in a 60, how long will it be before GPS driven in-car detector warning devices start going off in areas where there are no cameras, just a black spot and when will in car GPS’s be used to issue fines!

I understand the picture also shows the speed measurement made by radar or laser.
how a mobile camera which works on trigonometry can be sufficiently accurate
I thought they worked by reflection of extremely high frequency radiation, which is very accurate
how can one camera decide which vehicle is speeding on a three lane carriageway
Don't they do it with the marks on the road?
why can a police car nab you for speeding when they’ve been following for a mile exceeding the limit themselves
It is lawful for the police to exceed the speed limit when necessary
why do they put speeding camera signs where there are no speeding cameras
It provides a deterrent at low cost
why do people drive at 40 in a 60
I suppose they are not in a hurry
how long will it be before GPS driven in-car detector warning devices start going off in areas where there are no cameras, just a black spot
Isn't this dependent on the accuracy of the database maintained by the service provider?
and when will in car GPS’s be used to issue fines!
I suppose the answer to that is "When and if they become compulsory". However, I think that would be never, because there are always going to be ways to overcome that - you only need a low power transmitter to jam the frequencies the GPS uses, and it will stop working

or the local Councillor - especially the one who's wife is passionate about road safety and drives a Matiz.

These are the areas where mobile cameras have been setup in the past. The information has been provided by either the particular "Safety" Partnership responsible for using that site or individuals, who have driven past the site and "logged" the sighting of a camera whilst passing into their gps detection system and subsequently uploading the information the next time that the unit was plugged into a computer.

If it becomes compulsory for GPS in cars will this reduce insurance costs as they can then be traced???

That can already be done by fitting a Tracker system, but it sounds like it will become compulsory when road pricing is brought in.

Then the GPS could be modified to notify you of the cost of your intended route!

And, in addition to fastest and shortest options, they will have to add cheapest!

The joke going around up here in Scotland is that in some cases our roads are so bad the Govt will have to pay us to use them!

They could program in the cost of speeding fines and charging zone infringements too and debit your card remotely for the whole trip

- petrol tax
-road usage tax
-emissions tax
-engine size tax
-toll road and bridge toll fees
-speeding & parking fines
-zone entry fees
-anti-low frequency jamming protection fees

And I think to myself.............................. (G Orwell)

Hmmm... There is actually an issue on what happens to the data... Will it be sold to Tesco so they can track down those who drive to Morrisons or will it be made available to the CIA so they can check us out?

I'm personally utterly opposed to the whole idea especially as the worst congestion problem we get is when George the farmer decides to run his herd of cows through the village.....(found one in my front garden a few weeks ago acting like a lawnmowe) It's essentially a big city problem and especially a SE of England problem....

I also seriously doubt it will have much of an impact anyway...

Duck

Oh I don't know....The Socialist Republic of Edinburgh is talking about it already and the Scottish Executive ( or People's Commissariat as I like to call it) is looking into the idea....

Excuse the Indian Summer Madness Dick.

Back 'on message' I hear this morning that the Government wants the Highways Agency to identify a stretch of motorway to start charging?

Look out Birmingham!

You're forgiven...... I'll get my own back later anyway

Sponsorship - we have only really just begun looking. Now he's secured 2nd place in the Championship and got the Newcomer lap record etc he's got a record we can tout about..

The XR2 group is also looking at finding some overall sponsorship to try to get the series on Motors TV next year... The Scottish Minis were on this year but they're as dull as ditchwater....

Seen his latest video?...... the bit where he gets smacked in the side near the end...
