EA21 Fluid Types

Postby Austin Gillespie » Sat Aug 03, 2024 23:13

Swapping out all my fluids and wanted to know exactly what kind of oil the differential takes. Additionally, not sure what spec of transmission fluid to use as I have an Automatic 3spd cappuccino and can't find it anywhere online. I assume brake fluid is just the normal DOT 3, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks!

I use Castrol Syntrax Longlife 75w-90 GL5.

The EA11R takes DOT 3.

Thanks again Ian! Do you know what the ATF type for the transmission would be? I've heard that Castrol TRANSMAX full synthetic works but I don't wanna use an incorrect one and mess up the transmission, thanks!

Sorry, Austin, but I can't find anything specific to the EA21R. This link shows an entry for AISIN/Warner, which would perhaps apply, and one for Suzuki.

The problem is that the EA21R was not exported officially from Japan, and all the literature (e.g. Owner's Manual) is exclusively written in Japanese. Maybe an importer of JDM cars would know, or would have contacts in Japan. Alternatively, you could ask customer support at Castrol.
