Minor dent removal

Postby Nicholas Claydon » Fri Mar 01, 2002 09:23

Minor dents in vehicles are becoming an increasing problem due to inconsiderate motorists in car parks
There are a number of specialists around the country who will remove these and the results are excellent.
I have used 2 different companies now with successful results in both steel and aluminium panels on the Cappuccino.
Recently i had 5 small dents removed from door, wing and boot panels and the results were superb (you cannot see where the dent was from any angle of view).

If anybody needs dents removing and wants any information about what type of damage can be removed then from experience i would be happy to discuss prior to letting a company loose on their pride and joy.

It may be useful to set up a list of recommended dent removers who have carried out work for satisfied Cappuccino owners.

I will start by recommending:

1.Simon Spall (Pressadent) 07966 198916 ( Covers Essex area )
removed 5 small dents in boot, wing and drivers door (excellent)

2.Mark 07977 441696 (Covers Birmingham area)
removed 2 dents from aluminium bonnet (excellent)

I know what you mean. I park my cappo in a multi storey. When the passenger side is right up against the wall the cappo only uses about 1/2 of the parking bay up and I still get dents in my drivers door / front wing from the motorists who has a 1.5 parking bay.

What sort of cost is involved?? Are we talking tens or hundreds?

Dent Costs

Postby Nicholas Claydon » Mon Mar 04, 2002 08:34

The answer is to shop around.
Some of the big name companies charge per panel regardless of the number of dents in each panel this can be up to £75 per panel. :x
This is ok if you have all your dents in one panel but if you have just one dent in each of three different panels then this can be silly money. 8O
Some of the single man outfits will do the job for approx £20 a dent but you are best phoning round and then meeting up with one of them when they are on their rounds between car dealers so they dont have to make a significant journey to your house.
They spend most of their time at dealers repairing all the trade in vehicles prior to sale.
Ask your local big car dealer who he uses and are they good then get the phone number and ask if they can meet up and discuss the job.
You can negotiate the best price face to face.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your answer most helpful.

All I have to do now is get the dents removed and then invent a car protection system to keep other car users from denting the car again
:D

Washed my car to night and now I'm depressed found thre more dents. I also noticed that I have a lot of stone chips just behind the front headlight on the side of the drivers wing :(

I'm just glad we drive the car from the inside therfore I don't have to at them. At the people on the outside just see a red blur passing them by
