What alloy of aluminum are the body panels made?

Postby Benjamin Gibbins » Sat Nov 03, 2018 16:24

Hi all,
I was curious to know what alloy of aluminum the body panels of the cappuccino are made from. Has anyone had experience TIG welding them?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Benjamin,

I'm afraid we know of no information on the alloy used, but most of the body is steel.

The aluminium parts are shown in the Service Manual, Page 9-32. Only the roof, bonnet (hood) and the fender lower garnish are aluminium.

The parts which commonly need welding to repair rusted areas are the underside and the rear fenders - all steel.
