Another year, another MOT

Postby Murray Betts » Thu Oct 11, 2012 13:19

Yes, it really is 12months since the last one.

Due to pitifully little use  I did have to clean up the brake discs before hand, they get light surface rust which then polishes to form a brown glaze. Used some coarse (80 grit) alum oxide paper and they come back to clean iron quite easily. A good opportunity to give the rear calipers a greasing
and change of brake fluid while at it.

Sailed through again.

17years and 19,500miles.

:D

I guess it was a wet summer. I don't think I had mine out more than half a dozen times :(

I'm really glad I forked out for fully-synth oil - with such low use I think it's good for two years.

Just done it again, another MOT, another year, all of 400mls this last year! In mitigation I did buy another toy so was playing with that over summer, yet another motorbike (that makes 7 in total).

The Capp soldiers on. :D

Murray,

How about a list of your bikes?

Hmmm, oddly I seemed to have missed last year somehow.

Anyway, another MOT this morning, nearly 700mls this time! No advisories, but as usual the emissions scraped in by the skin of its teeth (at least it's not a VW!). Unfortunately this means thinking of getting it ready for being tucked away for winter again soon.

Curiously I was out for a drive a couple of weeks ago and came up to a roundabout just a mile from home, only to see a red Capp (N reg) drive through from the left. What are the chances? I followed directly behind, everyone else must have assumed we were together.
Then on my way to the MOT this morning I passed the same Capp coming in the opposite direction, no more than 1/4 mile from the previous encounter, he was obviously on his way to work (Warwick University???).

.... and another one, good to go for another 12 months.

Emissions just the same, 196ppm CO on a 200 limit! As my MOT guy said, a pass is a pass! :D Nearly 700mls again, getting consistent in use.

.... again. Where does that time go? CO sailed through at .180 this year, he must have got the cat a bit hotter this time! Almost 22k miles on it, it'll be worn out soon, I give it another 40yrs at most
