Today's post made me smile: our Cappo mag arrived, and I received an essay back with a A- grade

Since February I've been juggling working 60-70 hours a week and 25 hours of study a week, hence not much time left to visit this site, but it looks like it's starting to pay off

Fortunately I also appointed a successor for my job today, so I'll be studying full-time from July and I should have a bit more time to catch up with Cappo news (and hitting the skifields if any snow arrives - it's been the warmest May ever here!!)

That aside, it's worrying to hear from you about the warm May. Do you think you might have a return trip to the glaciers to see how they're looking since your last visit?

My friends up north in Aukland said only yesterday that "Winter is really getting going".

Mind you, they continue, "been about 5degrees at night time and .... day time is still about 17 degrees". Sounds pretty fine to me.

What a car!!!


I was kindly invited to a private track day in Mondello – Ireland’s finest motor racing track by the guys in the Irish Kit Car Club who I met at the Mosney Classic Car Show (the organisers thought the Cappuccino was a kit car)!

The track day was a mixture of heavy rain and sunshine (it is Ireland we are talking about)! There were a fine mixture of kit cars mostly Caterham / Lotus 7 clones – some pure racing machines which race in a class in the North of Ireland and some odd standard cars like my Cappuccino.


This is the first time in 8 years that I really drove the car off road in “anger” and to the limit. I have to say the car was a eye-opener - it just handled beautifully, While the top speed on the straights was always going to be a problem – on the twisty sections it was fantastic, both wet and dry. This is not just me, glowing on about the car – but lots of drivers and spectators came to me afterwards and commented how impressed they were with the little cars track performance.

I had just 2 errors and had 2 wheels in the gravel, but no spins – lot of scary moments!!!!


Was able to keep up with and even pass some standard Vauxhall?Opel Speedsters and some of the slower Caterhams.


As I was on my own on the day I have no pictures of the actual track driving, but a photographer has promised to send me on some of me in “action” which I will post in the future.

Getting some running water back after 10 days. Can't drink it yet but ok for washing, toilets etc Phew!

FINALLY today 7th August we have been told we can actually drink the water out of the tap without boiling it!

Ordering a brand new Fiat 500

.... although it's a bit like having a baby, as I'm going to have to wait until next March at the earliest before it's delivered!
Will be worth the wait though

Bought a lovely new house - complete with garage

And youngest boy got four A grade A levels and a place at Cambridge

A couple of days ago, I greased the two handle mechanisms on my downstairs loo's door but it didn't seem to have any affect.

Just used it (the handle and the loo!) and the horrible SQUEEEEK has disappeared. The grease must have needed time to work its way in.

All the door handles throughout the house are, I believe, the originals fitted in 1931.

A hundred days after we had THE EARTHQUAKE in Tohoku Area.
The news about it seems quite a strange in abroad, but we are moving.
For myself, the damage was limited, and my Cappo is well.
The thing I am pleased is just it, alive and well.

Is it really 100 days now? Fukushima Daiichi continues to be in the news here.

I am happy that the impact on you personally was limited (which I already know because we have exchanged emails).
