yep - I had to get it on eBay though so might not be too well-known outside London specialists

Not very common but I got it very cheaply on eBay.... 2 DVDs - £15 total.

I got 3 for £20 at one of my local stores (well 6 for £40 - I couldn't pass on a deal like that!)

I don't go the cinema much (anyone who has been to Herford cinema will understand why!!), I tend to wait till it's out on DVD. Think the last time I went was to see Harry Potter at Glos - now they are good films! :D

I have one of those cinema subscription thingies where you pay a tenner a month and can go as often as you want, so i tend to go quite a bit. The cinema's just down the road as well - a nice walk along the riverside all the way - though only one screen has surround sound (the others do have stereo though :o ) it's not a great cinema but it does the job :)

I've thought about getting a subscription for Glos (Hfd don't do them!) but not sure if I'd use it enough.

Elizabeth the multiplex in Glos is not brilliant but it's OK - not a nice drive from HR though. (even in a Cappo)

Hereford's cinema is particularly dire IMHO - it's the only cinema I've been to where a poignant quiet scene can be interrupted by the thumping bass coming through the wall from the club next door!!! I know a lot of HR people who always go elsewhere - Cardiff - Newport ?... (heads of the valleys way usually I think???)

Certainly if you want to watch A LOT of films those subscriptions are a must. Depends how much you'd use it though.

I used to have something similar in London for the NFT - watched MANY MANY films then. I don't these days as there's little access to 'decent' films out here in the provinces apart from the occasional Arts theatre - or somewhere like the Arnolfini in Bristol. (closed till Sept 2005 - redevelopment)

..and queueing at your average multiplex along with sticky-handed loud-mouthed kids of all ages, and struggling to 'filter out' the racket of popcorm crunching and sweetie bag rustling... is NOT my ideal way of watching a film - hence DVD Widescreen and surround sound at home - much better in some ways (not in others obviously)

It's not a bad drive to Glos, Ken - depends which way you go!

I only know the way via Ross - which is naff - especially on an icy winter's night. Is there another way?

Loads of 'em!! Well, a couple anyway - Ledbury or M50 way is the usual for me

Gloucester to leamington via ledbury i seem to remember being quite a decent drive.

that one's ok - past 'The Bull' up the Alcester bypass and up to the M40 at Leamington - 2 jncts down and call off at the motor museum - back roads to Southam - head for Silverstone..>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Saw the all-new 3hour/ 10 minute King Kong movie last Friday and wow... what a film!

OK it was slow to start with, a preambling story of about 45 minutes (or so) leading up to the trip to Skull Island, but once they arrived in a very dramatic way photographically the film came into its own, taking on a fast pace with brilliant effects, fast pace and full of emotion.

Best film of the year! Not sure, it's close between HP vs KK... now that would be a film!!

Avatar is fantastic!
I watched it three times in 3D at the cinema.
Now it is the best Blu-Ray DVD I've seen.
A beautiful visual feast for eye balls.

I experimented quite a bit with stereo ("3-D") photography many (many) years ago but display technology was just too clunky. I'm still looking forward to more user friendly technoly coming available. The forthcoming development of stereo HD TV may be the answer.

There are things you can do visually with stereo that are just impossible with a flat image. My favourite photo ever that I took at that time was of a castle on top of a cliff seen as a reflection in a rock pool. As a flat image it was just an abstract pattern, but as a stereo image it is possible to differentiate between the rock pool and the reflection... an absolutely magical image.

Now adding motion to that! Mind blowing. 8O

I agree on seeing Avatar again and again... saw it first time round at London IMAX and last week at Vue. You can appreciate it more when you see it more.

Certainly my fave film of all time, pulling back on older messages I have posted!

Unsure whether I want to see it on TV, irrespective of the screen size.
