Changes within the Steering Group

Postby Alex Clouter » Fri Nov 30, 2007 23:17

Two important announcements have been made in Issue 23.

Alex is stepping down from his position as Magazine Editor at the end of the year and having sold his Cappuccino (now restored to its former glory) to another SCORE member, he will not be renewing his membership.

With this position now vacant, it is up to someone within SCORE to come forward and look after this communication function either in the form of a magazine or newsletter. It would be helpful to have Microsoft Word or Publisher experience or perhaps the Apple Mac-based Creative Suite or Quark design packages. Feel free to contact Alex to chat more about this.

Ian may be moving overseas at some point next year. "When this happens it would be impractical for me to continue as Membership Secretary with what is entailed," Ian says.

So we're looking for someone to take on this job, looking after new membership enquiries and renewals. It would be helpful to have Microsoft Excel/Access database packages - or keen to learn as Ian is happy to help where necessary. Ian will continue to remain SCORE Treasurer provided the new Membership Secretary banks the cheques but if the new person is keen to take the finances on as well, Ian would hand this over as well.

Martin has joined the Steering Group to become Events Coordinator, a new focal point for the Regional/Country Representatives. He will continue as Regional Rep for the Yorkshires, having organised an incredible number and diversity of events in his region. It is this driving force that has spurred him on to become more involved centrally and give impetus to the rest of the team.

The quest for a Club Secretary continues, someone who is willing to take on the SCORE helm and keep the rest of the Steering Group in order! The role is more of a cheer leader within the club, encouraging the SG, Reps and members at large to participate and innovate, to keep the club healthy, positive and exciting. He or she would keep an eye open for things that would benefit members' pockets and club funds alike. If the SG is split 50/50 on a proposal, the Club Sec will exercise the casting vote. Anyone rising to the challenge please contact Ian.
