Help for Injured servicemen

Postby George Glew » Mon Jul 23, 2007 19:34

Hi guys

Not in the habit of sending things like this But.........

SSAFA are in the process of purchasing a house near Headley Court to allow next of kin to stay for short periods of time to visit their relatives, injured servicemen, undergoing treatment at the Defence medical rehabilitation centre (DMRC).
Local residents have made an objection. Please have a look at the press reports.
If you would like to support SSAFA and injured servicemen and there families, please consider signing the petition.

I am a civilian Occupational Therapist who works with these servicemen at Headley Court, (many of which have had serious injuries, including amputation) and I know how much they appreciate contact with their families and how beneficial it can be to their treatment. A new 30 bed ward has just been opened to manage an increasing numbers of casualties, which means this facility is needed even more.

Please feel free to pass this on to anyone else you feel would like to support this cause

Cheers

Dekker

I have just come back from vacation to the news that the project was passed unanimously by the planning committee.

Thanks for all your support. It really will mean a lot to our patients and their families :D

It really beggars belief that people can get so hung up on their back yard (leafy suburb) that they can't see the benefit of helping the families of these unfortunate people who have more than likely been injured helping to protect them, residents of this country.

I am a little late in signing but totally support what they are trying to do. If my back garden would help out, you're welcome to it!

It never ceases to amaze how some people take themselves and their personal needs so seriously! Didn't we used to call them 'Jobsworths'? - whatever their income level!
