Impractical was not an issue, nor was the boot space, nor the fact you need a climbing harness to get in, nor the blonde, nor the half hour fumbling with the roof when it rained. I really really wanted an Elise
I went to a garage to buy one subject to a test drive. The Cappo is fun to drive on a daily basis on the tarmac, the Elise is underused on general roads hence not much fun, yes I was disappointed, as was the salesman!
To prove my theory, I took one round a large go-kart track and yes the huge
said it all.
My quest was similar to Jacob’s to find a car similar in price to a second hand Elise, which could replace my Cappo, to date I have not succeeded.
While my Cappo is off the road in somewhat dispute, I bought another childhood dream car within 30 minutes of knowing it was for sale, I was hooked after the test drive as it had a similar grin factor. A 1989 Porsche 944, well recommended
The Elise will remain a car to be looked at and to hire for those days around a track.
