Docks Away!

As a sort of add on to the Normandy run, if anyone has call to cross the channel in the future, can I recommend Speed Ferries (FIGHT THE PIRATES!!).

They use a high speed catamaran and it is absolutely AWESOME!!!! 8O
We used them last year when we went to the Nurburgring Nordschleiffe. ( Not in the Cappo though)

It's an all aluminium vessel and it flies, with huge water plumes out of the back, and if you're really lucky, they'll let you have a look in the engine room.
All in all a fantastic experience!

We were also impressed by their pricing system. At the time, and it may still apply, the amount you paid depended on how full the boat was.
If the boat was full, the fares were lower, and it's also nice to support the underdogs. :)

They only go from Dover to Boulogne, but I think they are trying to expand to other ports.
Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. :D

When taking a Cappo onto a Ferry, do we require any special handling?

All that salt water must play havoc with rust?

The Cappos won't need any special handling but the drivers with all that duty free booze might be another matter

SPEEDFERRIES

Postby Stuart Falshaw » Wed May 24, 2006 15:47

When they started they announced an Easy Jet policy to pricing. Last month I made the crossing for £19 each way with a standard car ( not a cappy ) and a 3 meter long trailer. When you acess their web site you can choose the crossing and the prices are shown with the cheapest being morning or evening.
I will be using them more in the future.
