Strange really that superchargers aren't more popular than they are... Perhaps Murray could cast some light on the reasons..

Sorry a bit lame after those last two posts

Mine?

A Mk1 Lotus Cortina.

The first proper performance car for the Joe Public.

You could chuck it about all over the road.

It was just so forgiving and it performance was stunning for its era.

But tuning those Twin Choke Webbers???????????????

Sometimes I think I should have kept mine.

Sorry I don’t know how to post a photo but there are plenty available

Is that safe??? Isn't there something about rotors folding up?

It's fun in a fixed wing (Tiger Moth on the first lesson - sort of "can you take it?" test), stand fast the breakfast aspect :D

Wasn't it the lynx that you could actually do a 'loop the loop' in?

The Lynx has a semi rigid rotor which basically means the rotors aren't hinged as in older aircraft... The blades are also relatively short so the whole "disc" is pretty "stiff"... This is what allows you to do things like loops and barrel rolls in it..... However, the real purpose was to make it much more responsive and agile which it is.... If you like, it dramatically improves its "chuckability"..

The Gazelle also had what amounts to a semi rigid rotor head but with only three blades - which makes them longer and droopier - it doesn't have the same overall disk stiffness.. Good aircraft though..
