Replacement Windscreen

Not having much luck with cars recently. Just hit my windscreen on the garage door and cracked it (don't ask).

Any inside knowledge on sources of Cappo windscreens?

I see PIlkington classic glass list it as an 8015 but I expect that will be along delivery time and a lot of money.

Hopefully my insurance will cover it without hitting my NCB (windscreens are usually separate) but it would be good to know what is available before I ask them.

Any help much appreciated.

I had a new one fitted due to stone chip damage. It came from Pilkington and took about a week to be delivered to Jersey. I don't know the cost as I only had to pay the excess.

There is another post which said they make them to order and it took 7 weeks.

Barry Howlett has one for sale a year ago. Link.

Had to wait a couple of weeks but the insurance company's glass people came round on Tuesday and fitted a new screen. Very nice job, didn't break anything and the trim in-fill thing was reused just fine.

No rust at all around the screen frame which surprised me, I doubt many cars would be rust free there after 24 years. Pity I cant say the same for the floor.

So we are pleased with it, just cost the £75 excess and all back working again.

Good news Collette. Did you just do it through your insurer and they arranged the supply of the screen? Did Pilkington make it to order or did it come from somewhere else?

I've had a chip in my screen for several years, fortunately not in a sensitive place for the MOT and I've often wondered how I'd get on getting a new screen for it. Sounds like it isn't a showstopper.
