Speed gauge does not work

Postby Martin Antoni » Sun May 08, 2016 20:18

Hello,

in my cappuccino the speed meter has stopped working. Yesterday it worked, now it shows always 0mph. Is it an analog meter with a cable to the motor or is it digial as the rev meter?
Also the odo is not counting correct.

The second problem I have is that the Check Engine lamps goes on if I start to drive. Maybe this comes from the not existing speed pulses. When I stop the car but let the motor switched on, the Check Engine lamp goes off again.

Has someone a hint where to look for this problem?

Regards,

Martin Antoni

Hello, I read the workshop manual and found out, that it will be error Code 24, that makes sense to the symthoms.

Tomorrow I will check the VSS sensor, I hope it is still working.

I believe the usual problem with this is the connector under the carpet behind the seats.

Hello, so I found out the Problem.

I disconnected the sensor and tested it. There are some pulses, but they are not good looking.
With a drilling machine I am turning the sensor and watch the pulses on the oscilloscope. There are randomly. sometimes there is no pulse. So I opened the sensor, I is a hall sensor. Maybe the sensing element is defective.
Should I post some fotos of the sensors inside?

Does anyone know where to get a new sensor? I found something on ebay but it is from china and takes a long time for shipping.

You could try parts@levois.co.uk. They are a very good Suzuki dealer. If there's a problem mailing it to you in Germany, I could post it to you.
