Genuine or After market ...?

Trawling through many Cappo blogs and sites accessible on the net, I came across one which showed the interior of a Cappo sporting a very smart looking wooden dash and door cappings! Were these offered as bona fide factory options or available only as a third party goodies available from motor accessory shops?

Hi Chris,

I think they are aftermarket, and the ones I saw were not real wood.

Have you got your Cappo registered and on the road now?

I thought I remembered reading that the wood dash was on the limited edition, a quick search came up with this thread that identifies that they were available as an Suzuki option and appear to have been on the 1st limited edition.

The 3rd limited had a carbon fibre (effect?) dash. I'm not sure about the 2nd limited though.

Hi Ian

Guess I have to stay with the original dash; BUT... (WAIT FOR IT!)....

I have some good news: I have at last made contact with the seller [of my Cappo] and the documentation is en route to me as we speak! :D

I have also located a RAWS workshop who will be accepting Cappos for compliance as they enter the country! My Cappo is the first one (which they will use as a template for those cars coming in after mine) and the paperwork which I will receive in advance will be forwarded to them first so that they could register that with Canberra before I get the nod.

Once I have that I will contact the seller again and have the car shipped to me in Fremantle.

On arrival, I will look over the car quickly to check for damage etc. then accompany it personally on its long journey to the RAWS workshop. The Cappo will be transported there to be on the safe side because I wouldn't have the time to look it over in detail and therefore won't chance driving it!

Once I have the details, I will send you as an attachment, a revised form with the updated info such as VIN etc. :D

I can't wait .... :D :D :D

Chris

Hi Martin

Now that's interesting (about the wooden dash)!

I'm not too sure which one mine is because I bought it on-line! Stay tuned to this thread and I will post the updates when I have them.

If you read some of my earlier threads, you'll know I live in Australia, having emigrated from dear old Blighty 13 years ago! The Cappo was only sold in 2 other countries outside Japan: the UK and Hong Kong (the latter because of its traffic congestion) and both of these countries are for RH drive vehicles! It was never brought into Australia; and the few that are already here are grey imports, bought by Aussies when they were working abroad then brought in when they returned!

Mine would be the first "official" import and it took a few months of fighting and research (with the know-how and wealth of knowledge obtained from the boffins at SCORE - and a big thank you again, guys :D ) to finally get the Cappo approved and put on the Specialist and Enthusiasts' Vehicle Scheme (SEVS) list. :)

Cheers

Chris
