Just bought my Cappo and I really love to drive it. I am going to do a full inspection of the chassis before deciding how much restoring to do.
First to put myself in the mood I decided to tackle the headlamp glass on both front lights as their dull appearance really takes from the cars appearance which isn't bad otherwise. Both Headlamps are dull frosted and yellow in colour. This is purely due to the age of the headlights.
I found a headlamp restore kit from 3M which promises sparkling new headlights in less than 30 minutes, Yeah right I thought, it cant be that easy. First you sand off the yellow hazy top coating on the polycarbonate, then you get a white frosted lamp and you think, right this is never going to look right again, then you continue with the instructions as I know from experience its always best to follow instructions to the letter no matter how daft they seem as you would hope the instructions were not dreamed up in 5 minutes but carefully worded and revised until perfect.
Anyway I was more than pleased with the end result.
I'm very technically aware being a keen Sailor with an ocean going boat. Sailors have to know everything about everything because you are usually in the middle of the ocean when things go wrong and you have to fix it yourself no matter what. I know nothing about cars but I bought the Cappo to learn, so I will need lots of help.
I thought I would share my first success with everyone which gives me great confidence to dive in and get cracking with the rest of what needs to be done. See photos before during and after in my album.
