turbo charger

Postby Hamid Korkchi » Mon May 14, 2012 12:42

Oh the joys of summer, it keeps getting better

I have just noticed that when I rev the little car, a puff of somke come out from underneath the heat sheild on the manifold side. Now the obvious answer is to take off the heat shield and look, well the nuts have rusted and likey to shear off. Now Just wonderd of it s a big job ( new Turbo) or is an oil seal that spills oil on the manifold and that is creating the puff of smoke. At idle it seems to be fine

Any advise is welcomed

many thanks

It could be a leak in the cylinder head cover (camshaft housing) gasket on that side. The heat shield does not have to come off to do that.

Suzuki Part No. 11139-53A03 for a set of gaskets for both covers.

I think those screws that hold the heatshield on suffer some real stress with the extremes of temperatures from the manifold. I manged to shear all but 1 of them off. Once off (sheared or otherwise!), check the bolt screws on the manifold as when I looked at mine they had unscrewed. 1 of them had unscrewed a good half inch. Obviously it was leaking quite bad. bolted them back down again and good as new. Might be worth checking this.
