Gaiters

Postby Adrian Furniss » Sat Jun 08, 2002 00:37

I wonder if you would all like to see my new gaiters. I made them today from a blue leather jacket, bought from a charity shop for £10.00.

They are fairly tricky - particularly the handbrake gaiter - involving hand and machine stitching - but worth while I think.

This is my second attempt. The first was in a darker blue vinyl which looked great but unfortunately lasted less than a year before showing serious signs of wear. Hopefully the leather will last much longer.

Colour reproduction is rather poor here. The blue is somewhat exagerated by the camera flash.

Nice work Adrian. I have seen some Japanese Photos before. They did the job in Red, and orange. Are you also going to paint the dashboard?

Thanks Marcel.

I think I'll leave it in glorious black - well, for now at least.

By the way, may dash-top is covered in black leather. I think this was done by the original owner, but could possibly be original for this model?

Modification

Adrian,
I don't think that is standard or option. I guess the dashtop cracked because of too much sunlight. I experienced the same and was very difficult to repair. A new leder cover is a much simpler and chique solution.
