I recently changed my engine mounts. So I thought I'd write a brief guide.

The picture shows the new engine mounts.

I bought my new parts from Dany at Cappuccino Sport. They were cheaper than going to my Suzuki dealer.

This picture shows the rear engine mount. The old one has been removed & replaced with a nice new one.

First get your cappo up on some axle stands. Make sure it's nice & secure before you get under.

Take the front wheels off.

You'll need to remove the exhaust guard first. Then you'll need to drop the exhaust pipe away. This will give you access to remove the gearbox tunnel/prop shaft guard.

You now be able to see the back of the gearbox as in the picture.

Before taking off the rear engine mount you'll need to support the engine.
I used a block of wood under the gearbox & supported it all with a jack.

You'll now be able to remove the rear engine support.

This is the view from the passanger side wheel arch. I have already removed the nut & washer securing the old mount in.

You'll need to move the upper suspension wishbone out of the way to be able to remove the mouting. This is the long 300mm long bolt. I would suggest soaking all the fixings in WD40 a few days in advance to help things a long.

Here's a view of the rear nut on the passenger side engine mounting. Not easy to get too.

To get to this nut, remove the battery & battery tray. This will allow access with a socket.

The drivers side mounting is alot harder to get access too.

Again you'll need to move the upper suspension wishbone out of the way to be able to remove the old mounting.

It looks almost impossible to get access to rear nut on the drivers side engine moutning. After a bit of poking around I found this little access point.

It's just big enough to get a spanner in. Although it only allows you to turn the nut a small amount. So it takes a while to get this nut off.
If you have a ratchet ring spanner it might be a bit easier.

With all the engine mounting nuts removed & the upper suspension wishbones moved out of the way you are ready to lift the engine.

There is a nice lifting point on top of the engine if you have a hoist.
Or use a couple of well positioned jacks to lift the engine.

When lifting the engine be carefull not to squash the distributor cap & connections as it sits underneath a overhang on the body. If in doubt remove the leads.

Replace the mountings & lower the engine slowly back into place. keep supporting the back of the gearbox until you have refitted the rear engine support.

Put everything back together. Sit down & have a rest.

If everything comes appart easily (the upper suspension wishbone bolt was the hardest thing to remove) this job shouldn't take any longer than three hours. Stubborn nuts or bolts will considerably lengthen this.
