On what turned out to be the two hottest days of the year I headed west to the stunning region of Connamara in the far western seaboard of Ireland. This area of outstanding beauty has usually very uncertain weather patterns with the various fronts blowing in from all the way across the Atlantic, but on this occasion it was a bit like Greece! I spent two days exploring and was surprised a how empty the roads were despite this been the prime tourist season. On the third day I travelled a dog-leg taking in a slice of Co Sligo on my way back to Dublin. This trip confirmed to me the reason why we all love the Cappuccino. The only downside of the trip was that the roads started to “break-up” as the intense heat started to melt the tar and provided me with some memorable “tail-out” moments.
