Installing a navigation system is a tad more difficult than installing a
basic radio. The difference arises if the system requires a speed signal.
The GPS may use this signal to estimate the car's position when the signal
to the antenna is not available (i.e. in a tunnel, in a city with high
buildings, etc.). To gain access to the Cappuccino's speed signal some
medium level installation work is required.

This document is based on the installation of a Becker Traffic Pro unit

1. The target is the wire behind the speedometer which carries the speed
signal. The first panel to be removed
is under the steering wheel. No tricks here, just easy to reach screws. See
pictures 1 and 2.

2. Next, the panel around the speedometer and rev. counter has to be
removed. This panel extends to the right and middle air vents.
Just like the previous panel this is no more difficult than removing
the screws. Don't forget the big one on the side of the dash!

3. Next remove the two standing metal brackets holding the unit
with the instruments (rev. counter, speedometer, fuel
gauge, etc) . See picture 5.

4. Now the unit containing the instruments can be reached. Three white
connectors have to be
removed first. They connect the buttons for the fog light, rear window
heater and such. Now carefully remove the big unit
containing the instruments. This can be done without removing the steering
wheel, but be careful since there's little space to move.

5. Behind the unit is a blue connector containing 22 wires. The red/purple
wire carries the speed signal. Solder an extra wire to it (do not use plugs
since they have electrical resistance and may affect the signal!). The new
wire goes to designated input of the GPS unit.
